A Winter Tale in Atlanta, Montreal, Bermuda and Kingston, Jamaica!

* A Winter Tale opened the Women of Color Arts and Film Festival in Atlanta last Friday. Thanks to Moji and all my new Southern friends - I had a wonderful time.

In other newz: 

* A Winter Tale will open "Kasserian Ingera (Et Comment Vont Les Enfants)" on March 28th, and screen again on the 29th and 30th, at La Grande Bibliotheque in Montreal. Peter Williams and I will be there to TALK IT OUT after each show.

This extraordinary weekend of screenings, performances and lectures is organised by my friend Nadine Dominique. 

Sunday 30th will feature a big concert of Montreal artists including Nadine's wonderful son Kym. The full program is here... 

* We're also excited to tell you that A Winter Tale will screen at the Bermuda International Film Festival on Sunday March 30th and Tuesday April 1st.  

And finally : The news you've been waiting for! 

A Winter Tale will launch in JAMAICA on April 3rd at the 'Palace Cineplex'  Sovereign Mall, Kingston, with a special Reception and Preview Screening hosted by the Canadian Consulate and Jamaica Trade and Invest.

Peter Williams, Michael Miller, Ryan Ishmael, Nicole Stamp, Kevin Pennant and myself, will all be there - and of course Leonie (Forbes) will join us in Kingston.

We open in 5 cinemas across Jamaica on April 9th

A Winter Tale of our Schools

The "Winter Tale" Project

Leda Serene Films, Producers of the award-winning feature film "A Winter Tale", is beginning work on a new dramatic project that will explore the inner lives and experiences of young people in Toronto's high schools.

Director Frances-Anne Solomon and her team are seeking 10 young actors to participate in this exciting new collaborative project. The group will work together over the next six months to develop a script through community research, discussion, improvisation and personal storytelling. The final product will be mounted as a theatre play in the Winter of 2008/2009.

We are seeking the following 10 talented young performers drawn from Toronto's multicultural realities:

- 5 females and 5 males between the ages of 12-19 years old.
- Must have a keen interest in the performing arts, and some experience acting/performing, as well as a desire to pursue a career in the field.
- Improvisational and research skills a strong asset.
- Must be open, generous, and willing to participate fully in a collaborative creative process.
- Must be reliable, punctual and possess a strong work ethic.

Audition Requirements

1. Please carefully review the websites http://awintertale.ca and http://ledaserene.ca for information about the feature film A Winter Tale, and Leda Serene Films'/Frances-Anne Solomon's previous work.

2. Send a photo and resume as well as a covering letter stating why you are interested in participating in the new project, and how you feel that you can contribute to it.

3. If you are selected for an audition, you will be required :

- to present a 3-minute first person story about a) your best day at high school and b) your worst day at high school.

- to deliver a 3-minute contemporary monologue of your choice; it can be either comedic or dramatic.

- to participate in a group improvisation with other young people.
